Electrolysis is a highly skilled procedure. It requires knowledge of the angle hair and depth of the hair follicle, as well as the delivery of the appropriate current and intensity. Most home kits claim to work by applying electrical current above the surface of the skin rather than to the follicle directly. This only singes the surface of the skin and hair, leaving the follicle virtually untouched. This is just a temporary method much like a depilatory and can scar the skin in the process.
